In a small bowl, mix the Active Dry Yeast (2 tsp), warm Whole Milk (1 cup), and Granulated Sugar (2 Tbsp). Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the frothy yeast mixture with ⅓ of the flour. Add the Large Eggs (2) and mix on low speed.

Add the Kosher Salt (1 tsp) and gradually add the remaining All-Purpose Flour (4 Tbsp) (½ cup at a time) until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until it's smooth.

Gradually add small chunks of Unsalted Butter (1/2 cup) to the dough while kneading, continue for another 3 to 4 minutes until the butter is fully incorporated.

Place the dough in a well-oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 to 1½ hours.

Once risen, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Keep three pieces covered to prevent drying.

Roll each piece into a 10-inch flat round. Place one round on a lined baking sheet.

Spread 2 tablespoons of Basil Pesto (1/3 cup) evenly over the round, leaving a ½ inch border. Sprinkle about 3 tablespoons of Grated Parmesan Cheese (1/2 cup) over the pesto.

Repeat layering with the remaining rounds of dough, pesto, and cheese, stacking them on top of each other.

Place a 2½-inch cookie cutter or large glass in the center to hold the layers together. Cut the stacked dough into 16 equal arms, starting from the cutter outwards. It's easiest to cut into quarters first, then each quarter into 4 pieces.

Remove the cutter and twist each pair of arms in opposite directions, pressing the ends together firmly to seal.

Cover the star-shaped bread loosely with plastic wrap and let it rise for 30 to 45 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Make the egg wash by beating the whole Large Egg (1) with the Water (2 Tbsp). Brush risen bread with egg wash and sprinkle with flaky Coarse Sea Salt (to taste).

Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
