How to Make The Ultimate Full English Breakfast Sandwich

Ingredient Insights

  • Breakfast Sausage & Bacon – The heart of any full English breakfast. Frying them together lets the fats mingle, creating a deeper, richer flavor.
  • Cherry Tomatoesr – Roasting them in the same skillet adds a touch of sweetness and acidity, balancing the salt and fat.
  • Crispy Fried Eggs – Cooking eggs in butter and olive oil gives the best of both worlds—crispy edges and a luscious yolk.
  • Sriracha & Worcestershire – A drizzle over the eggs deepens the umami and adds a bit of heat.
  • Crusty White Bread – The perfect vehicle for soaking up all those delicious drippings.

Tips for the Best Breakfast Sandwich

  • Poke the sausage & tomatoes – Piercing them helps release juices and ensures even cooking.
  • Don’t skip the balsamic – Aged balsamic vinegar adds depth and enhances the sweetness of the tomatoes.
  • Use the pan drippings – Brushing or drizzling the fat from the eggs onto the bread boosts flavor.
  • Go for a sturdy bread – A crisp crust and fluffy interior help hold up to the rich fillings without getting soggy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this sandwich ahead of time?

It’s best enjoyed fresh, but you can cook the sausage, bacon, and tomatoes in advance. Just reheat and fry the eggs right before assembling.

What’s the best bread for this sandwich?

A crusty white loaf like a farmhouse-style bread or a good ciabatta works best—something with structure but not too dense.

Can I use different sausages?

Absolutely! Try black pudding, blood sausage, or even a good quality chorizo for a twist.

Cooking Instructions

step 1
Make the fry up: Preheat your oven to 425℉. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Breakfast Sausage Links (4) and Bacon (4 slices) in a single layer. Use the tines of a fork to poke holes in the sausage to help the fat render as they cook. Season the meat with Ground Black Pepper (to taste) and add the Butter (2 Tbsp) to the skillet. Continue cooking until the meat begins to caramelize and turn golden brown. Add the Cherry Tomatoes (8) and poke holes in them like you did with the sausage. Place the skillet in the oven and let the meat finish cooking and the tomatoes roast while you fry the eggs.
step 2
Fry the eggs: In a medium skillet over medium, high heat, add the Olive Oil (1 Tbsp) and Butter (2 Tbsp). Once the butter is melted, crack the Large Eggs (2) into the pan and season with Kosher Salt (to taste) and Ground Black Pepper (to taste). Once the edges begin to crisp, swirl the pan to gently baste the tops of the eggs with the fat. Sprinkle the eggs with Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (to taste) and drizzle with Sriracha (2 Tbsp) and Worcestershire Sauce (1 tsp). Continue cooking until the whites of the eggs are set completely.
step 3
Assemble: Use a spoon to drizzle the fat from the eggs across the slices of bread. Cut the sausages in half and place on the bread along with the bacon. Drizzle the tomatoes with the Aged Balsamic Vinegar (1 tsp) and place on top of the bacon. Finish the sandwich with the fried eggs and remaining slice of bread.
