Ingredient Highlights

  • Roasted Garlic: Slow-roasting garlic transforms it into a sweet, caramelized spread, adding depth and richness.
  • Sundried Tomato Paste: Intensifies the umami and adds a bright, tangy contrast to the cheese.
  • Milk Bread: Light and fluffy with a tender crumb, it crisps beautifully while staying soft inside.
  • Sargento® American Cheese: Melts effortlessly, giving that perfect gooey texture in every bite.

Pro Tips for the Best Grilled Cheese

  • Pre-toast the bread: This helps maintain crispness while ensuring even toasting.
  • Mash the butter well: A smooth, spreadable consistency guarantees even flavor distribution.
  • Control the heat: Cooking on medium prevents burning while allowing the cheese to melt fully.
  • Press gently while cooking: This helps the bread make full contact with the skillet for a crispier crust.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different cheese?

Yes! Aged cheddar, provolone, or a mix of mozzarella and parmesan would work beautifully.

What’s the best way to roast garlic?

Wrap whole garlic cloves in foil with a drizzle of olive oil and roast at 375°F for 30–40 minutes until soft and golden.

How can I add extra flavor?

A pinch of red pepper flakes in the butter adds a subtle heat, or try a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra depth.

Place 2 pieces of bread, butter side down into the skillet and top with 2 Sargento® Natural American Sliced Cheese (4). Place the remaining slices of bread, butter side up onto the cheese. Cook until the bread begins to turn golden brown, about 3 minutes. Flip and continue cooking until the cheese is fully melted, about 4 more minutes.
